Copy/Pasta or "What do I put here?"

This has been an interesting month, a lot has happened, but none of it feels blog worthy, since its not major, and most of it is well documented elsewhere. Unfortunately, that means that this post is going to be several smaller paragraphs of content instead of one big, well though out post.

First, lets cover the current status of the eco-linux stuff, After messing around with Samba, and revisiting FreeIPA, I've decided to commit to FreeIPA, primarily because of the ease of user management, and the ease of domain joining, especially since I found an ansible playbook that makes adding the converted computer to the domain extra simple.

The conversion process is going well with the entire "homelab" set of computers converted to debian/fedora/proxmox and joined to the domain. Next I need to convert the printer to a domain CUPS server, then setup a FreeIPA replica(order may change depending on ease of CUPS/replica setup).

I'm still deciding if I also join the Kubernetes nodes to the domain, as its not really needed, and may cause complexity to the cluster then I'm not excited to debug.

One hiccup I've had with the conversion process is my AutomaticRippingMachine. Originally, I had it setup as a bare metal install ( with some tweaks to not have the system updating break the machine). When I re-set it up, I used the docker method instead, This has lead to some unexpected bugs that I'm still working it out. The largest of them being that when the box restarts, docker doesn't restart the container. I suspect that its because I have the container mapping some network drives, and the drives haven't been mapped by the time the docker tries to start the container. Other issues consist of permission problems (due to mapped drives) and foreign films(Pan's Labyrinth), but those are minor issues, and are probably more me and my config then the software itself.

Along with all the conversion stuff, I've been playing around with yt-dlp, and I must have done something wrong(right?), As Youtube now considers me a bot, and forces me to sign in to see any content. Which means that I don't get Youtube ads anywhere but Youtube, I also don't have to deal with auto play videos, and cleans up a lot of noise on random pages that do that kinda of thing.

Anyway, that's really all i have for now, its not a a lot, but I want to not fall into writers block and bail on this blog. Thus, Thanks for your patience as I work through this period of randomness and incongruity.
